Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation
The Teammates for Kids Foundation was co-founded by Garth Brooks in 1999. The purpose of the Foundation is to contribute financial resources to selected non-profit organizations that effectively serve and benefit children with the emphasis on health, education and inner city services. Currently there are 5 sports divisions at Teammates for Kids; Hockey, Football, Baseball, Soccer and Basketball. We started with 67 baseball players and now over 10 years later we currently have over 2200 participating athletes. The Foundation enlists the participation of these professional athletes who then contribute a predetermined sum based upon selected categories of on-field, on-court and on-ice performance. For example, $100 for every sack made, $500 for every goal scored, $1000 for every home run.
We have two guarantees to our participating athletes at Teammates for Kids;
- The Foundation guarantees to TRIPLE all donations made by participating professional athletes with the generous help of corporate sponsors and individual donors.
- 100% of the money made by professional athletes and all matching contributions are restricted and designated for the specific purpose of distribution to children's charities. As Garth says, "100% of the money goes to the kids. It's not the goal... it's the rule!"
"We think our partnership with Pro Player Connect is a win-win," says Don Johnson, President of Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation. "Athletes who are already donors are introduced to the site and athletes on the site are introduced to Teammates for Kids. We are fortunate that we have had the participation of so many athletes throughout the years, and we hope this relationship will build on that support."
