A Mixed Bag for a Mixed Martial Artist
"Twinkle Toes" might not be a welcomed moniker for most men, unless, that is, you are a mixed martial artist.
Frank "Twinkle Toes" Trigg grew up with six brothers, so it's no wonder he developed a competitiveness at an early age. At the University of Oklahoma, he was a standout wrestler and boasted a black belt in judo. He stayed on as a Sooners coach from 1997-2000, and in 2000 Trigg was an Olympic trials wrestling finalist but it was in 1997 that he got his start in mixed martial arts, a full contact combat sport that emerged in 1993 with the founding of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. His first major victory came in 1999 at PRIDE 8 in Japan, defeating Fabiano Iha via TKO. PRIDE held more than sixty mixed martial arts events and broadcasted to about 40 countries worldwide. It was with this organization that Trigg got his initiation into broadcasting, an endeavor that would prove worthwhile.
Trigg fought in the World Fighting Alliance from 2001-2002, where he held the WFA welterweight title. As a fighter, he is also a veteran of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Rumble on the Rock and Icon Sport, where he defeated Jason "Mayhem" Miller to win the middleweight title on December 1, 2006. On February 24, 2007 at PRIDE 33, Trigg defeated Middleweight Grand Prix champion Kazuo Misaki by unanimous decision.
Since then his resume has expanded to include not only more broadcasting, with appearances on TNA Wrestling and as co-host of both the MMA Weekly and TAGG radio shows, but also a variety of business ventures.
Trigg is a partner in a gym called R1 Training Center with Rico Chiapparelli, a mixed martial arts, submission wrestling and wrestling instructor, as well as Trigg's MMA coach. The R1 Center is best known as a Mecca for champion mixed martial arts fighters and wrestlers who travel from all over the globe to train and learn.
Trigg established TRIGGONOMICS in 2003 to design, develop and market high quality athletic clothing to an emerging niche in the market. This urban athletic wear line is a street wear brand for those who want to look good walking out of the gym and into the street or club.
Trigg has also tried his hand at acting, appearing on an episode of The King of Queens, in the film Redbelt and as a contestant on the VH1 reality television program Kept trying to win the affections of former supermodel Jerry Hall to become Jerry's kept man. Although Trigg was eliminated on the show, he continues to win the affections of his fans in the realm of mixed martial arts and beyond. There's no telling where Trigg will turn up next, so watch out!
